We use a 2-part epoxy to seal them together before they leave here. We do not recommend attempting to repair them as this could make them unsafe for future use- with no offense meant to your potential carpentry skills. If you must attempt though, please be safe about it and use proper tools and measures, allowing the epoxy to dry completely for a couple of days, perhaps in a vice.
